Jeff started flying as a senior in high school and obtained his Private Pilot License when he was eighteen. After spending two years as a missionary for the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Santiago, Chile, he attended Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University where he obtained a Bachelor of Science in Aeronautical Science. He holds a Commercial Pilot Certificate with Airplane Single and Multi-Engine Land Ratings, as well as an Instrument Rating.
Upon graduating from E-RAU in 1988, Jeff joined AVEMCO Insurance Company as a sales/underwriter in Frederick, Maryland. AVEMCO later transferred him to Seattle, where he underwrote Alaskan risks. Jeff went back to school and studied law at Seattle University where he obtained his Juris Doctorate. In 1999, while Jeff was still in law school, AVEMCO closed its field offices. At that time, Jeff joined Falcon Insurance Agency and opened the Northwest Branch for them.
Jeff joined LAU in 2005 as an underwriter. At the beginning of 2006, he took over the day-to-day management of claims from Dale Bennett. Later that year, Jeff was asked to join the management team as a Vice President and subsequently was elected to the LAU Board of Directors. In November 2008, when Michael Charlesworth stepped down as President, he named Jeff as his successor and Jeff has held that position ever since.
Outside of LAU, Jeff enjoys spending time with his wife Andrea and their three children - Jeff, Jr., Natalie, and Linda. Among the things he enjoys to do are reading, watching movies, and exercising. He volunteers time on the weekends and in the evening to work with local scouts. As a youth, Jeff earned the rank of Eagle Scout and still enjoys camping and being in the outdoors, which is why he is happy here in the Great Pacific Northwest.
